Make a donut chart from a short table

A donut chart is a pie with the middle left open, so the parts read as a ring instead of a solid disk. Chartsuno does not have a separate donut control. Its pie chart is drawn that way: the center stays empty. Paste one label and one number per slice, and the ring shows up on the page before you create an account.

Three shares of a monthly budget. The ring is the chart; the labels name the slices.

How the ring gets made

  1. Paste two columns. The first column is the slice name. The second is the number. A header row such as Category,Amount is enough.
  2. Look at the ring. This page opens the homepage paste box with the pie chart selected. The preview draws in the browser, with the center left open.
  3. Keep one number column. Extra number columns are ignored for a pie. If you need parts of a total across categories, a stacked bar is the clearer chart.
  4. Save it if you want it later. Previewing does not require an account. Sign in free to keep the chart, download a PNG, or copy a share link. A free account includes 10 saved charts a month.

When a donut is the right chart

Use a donut when you have a few parts of one whole: a budget, a traffic mix, or answers to a single survey question. Five slices is already crowded. More than that, and a bar sorted from largest to smallest is easier to read. The hole does not add a number. It only makes the ring easier to tell apart from a solid pie.

Is it free?
You can paste data and preview a chart without an account and without paying. A free account saves up to 10 charts a month, and those saved charts can be exported as a PNG or CSV and shared with a link. Paid plans remove that monthly cap. There is no credit card for the free plan.
Do I need to sign up?
Not to paste data and see the chart. Saving to My Charts, downloading a PNG or CSV, and copying a share link need a free account. On the web, Continue with Google creates the account. The iOS app also offers Sign in with Apple.
Is a donut different from a pie here?
The chart type is pie. Chartsuno draws that pie as a ring, with the center open, which is the donut form. There is no second setting that fills the hole back in.
Can the slices be percentages?
Paste the raw numbers. Chartsuno sizes each slice from the values. You do not have to make them add up to 100 first.
Does it work on a phone?
The paste box and the preview run in the mobile browser. Saving the chart needs a free account, which includes 10 charts a month.
